Militant Atheists Writing Books

An absolutely brilliant YouTube video which I feel does a splendid job of explaining why I reject the term “militant atheist”.

  1. This guy makes an important point, there’s nothing “militant” about saying “i don’t believe, what does the evidence suggest?”

Nope, there is nothing militant about that. But that is not all they are saying.

There is something militant about calling believers “child abusers” (Dawkins), as belonging in cages (Dennet) and saying, “Some propositions are so dangerous that it may be ethical to kill people for believing them.” Sam Harris, The End of Faith, pages 52-53.

And who determines which beliefs are so dangerous? The atheist. Of course Sam Harris make excuses for pre-emptive nuclear war, pages 129 on, torture, and anti semtism (the Jews brought it on themselves.)

Can you imagine an officially atheistic government?

I can. Gulags, “re-education” camps, brainwashing centers, you name it.

  3. @Basement Activist:

Torture? Brainwashing? It seems to me that religions have turned those tactics in to gold leafed and incense scented art forms! How proud you must be…And another thing, can you and your kind (whatever kind that may be) find a new argument? The commie-Stalin thing is getting pretty old.

  5. You’re right, it is a brilliant video. Thanks for sharing!

Basement Activist, when is the last time an atheist blew up anything in the name of “no-gods”? In fact, when is the first time an atheist blew up anything in the name of “no-gods”? I thought so.
